# Welcome to Coordinape Coordinape es una plataforma para que las DAOs distribuyan justa y fácilmente los recursos con los contribuyentes. Las subvenciones comunitarias, salarios internos y proyectos especiales pueden incentivarse y ser recompensados por la misma comunidad. Coordinape busca que la verdadera experiencia de las personas que trabajan en las DAOs sea mucho más dinámica, gratificante y justa. Coordinape traslada la toma de decisiones a la comunidad. La simple premisa es que si preguntas a todos los miembros en la comunidad quien realiza un buen trabajo, la respuesta colectiva dará una buena idea de dónde está el valor y quién debería de ser mejor recompensado. Con el tiempo, esto igualmente proporciona valiosa información para la DAO sobre que tipo de trabajo se prioriza, que es lo que la comunidad encuentra más valioso y quiénes son los contribuyentes clave en las diferentes áreas. La visualización compartida de igual manera permite a todos los miembros de la comunidad ver quien trabaja en qué y encontrar oportunidades de colaboración o reducir la duplicación de esfuerzos. Coordinape actualmente se implementa como un alpha off-chain mientras continuamos desarrollando nuestra versión on-chain, utilizando un EVM compatible L2 o una side-chain. Coordinape se construye alrededor de círculos – grupos de participantes de una DAO que desean distribuir fondos mediante un proceso de regalo descentralizado. Cada círculo puede definir las reglas de participación – puede incrementar su red sin necesidad de permisos, establecer parámetros en torno a ciertos elementos de su mecánica de juego y alternar la visibilidad de la red, ya sea mediante una administración descentralizada o gobernanza interna. Los círculos funcionan en epochs: periodos de tiempo en los cuales los contribuyentes que lo constituyen pueden enviarse mutuamente GIVE tokens, los cuales representan la asignación presupuestaria total de ese círculo. Concebimos los epochs como eventos mensuales, en donde los contribuyentes pueden considerar la colaboración de los demás y la habilitación y fomento mutuo de la misión de la DAO durante ese período de tiempo. A cada miembro se le asigna una cantidad fija de GIVE (100 por defecto), y puede enviar cualquier número de estos tokens libremente a otros miembros del círculo durante ese epoch. Los miembros también pueden “opt out” si reciben financiación en cualquier otro lugar, lo que les permite enviar GIVE pero no recibirlo. GIVE no tiene valor si no es dado a otro miembro del círculo – el proceso de regalar define el pago por miembro del presupuesto del círculo. Follow links below for the general premise and vision of Coordinape, how to use the application, and best practices. # Vision ## Building DAO Operations DAOs have revolutionized our facility for coordinating decision-making via coin-voting, but the shortfalls of these broad consensus-finding mechanisms have become very apparent as we’ve put them to the test across hundreds of communities over the past year. While DAOs are often used to manage growing protocol's many operational decisions such as hiring and compensation, the average coin-holder often lacks the time or expertise to add useful input to a system and is most often either abstaining or rubber stamping initiatives based on their trust, or lack of trust, in the core team. DAOs solve one half of the problems decentralized networks require, defining governance. Coordinape is a DO (decentralized operations) platform that aims to solve the other half: a structure to make operational decisions within a team of contributors. If a DAO is the decentralized version of a board of directors plus shareholders, a DO is the decentralized version of the executive team plus contributors themselves. ## Roll-out We are testing Coordinape in phases to understand the social dynamics. For the first phase of its development, Coordinape is being built to tackle a key pain-point for Yearn: community grants. We have tested our proof of concept compensation mechanic, the “gifting circle,” over several trial periods at Yearn, including dedicated circles for specific groups and processes. Now, we are opening the alpha version to select partners for their use. ## Development Coordinape is currently implemented off-chain, to allow rapid changes and iteration as we research the best applications of core ideas. Simultaneously, we are working on an on-chain version, to be implemented on a layer 2 EVM compatible side-chain as we launch our on-chain ETH L1 offering. # Gift Circle Coordinape’s core feature (central to the Alpha version) is the Gift Circle. The Gift Circle allows a group of DAO contributors to decentralize the payment process, identifying eachother’s value to the organization to create a compensation map. This is done through a process of Gifting. ## The Gift Circle An organization can stand up any number of Gift Circles, adding members through a decentralized process. During a set period of time (the Epoch), the group can perform the Gifting process, as follows: At the start of the epoch, each member of the Circle receives a number non-divisible GIVE tokens (Determined by the Circle Admin) Members allocated their GIVE tokens to other members over the course of the epoch to reward them for the value they bring to Yearn Members can adjust their allocations up until the end of the epoch They can add notes to their allocations if they wish At the end of the epoch, all allocated GIVE tokens become locked (now called GET tokens), and all unallocated GIVE tokens are burned Budget distribution is then formulated according to the percentage of total GET tokens that each member of the circles has received. ## Example * Joe receives 75 GETs over the epoch from his colleagues, * Total GETs allocated during the epoch are 1500, * Total Contributor Budget is 50,000 USDC * Joe is sent 2,500 USDC (0.05 of Budget). # How To Use Coordinape En esta sección encontrarás un resumen de como utilizar la aplicación web de Coordinape. ## Selección de Círculos Al visitar por primera vez el sitio web de Coordinape es necesario que conectes tu billetera virtual. La primera es una declaración de trabajo durante el epoch. En este campo puedes poner cualquier actividad que realizaste. Es público a leer para todos los del círculo y puede ser utilizado para detallar el trabajo que has hecho en el mes o para aclarar por lo que se te ha compensado y por lo que quieres ser compensado en Coordinape. Over the course of the epoch, each member should allocate their GIVE tokens to other members using whatever logic that makes sense to them with the goal of making sure valuable contributions are recognized and compensated as accurately as possible. The goal is not to share money equally, give from obligation, or to pay people for spending time within the organization (unless you think that is valuable). The goal is to reward valuable contributions. If someone doesn’t get any GIVE tokens, that’s OK. Maybe they were busy that month? Or maybe they aren’t bringing value. There is nothing wrong with that. Use your own judgment in allocating GIVEs. In general, give them when you have first-hand experience of people creating value. If you are working with someone on a yearn project and you think they did a good job, allocate some GIVEs. Try not to allocate GIVEs based on who is “supposed” to get them, or based on hype. Give them where you see value happen. Give them to people that help you. Don’t worry too much about getting the numbers right, go with your heart. # FAQ FAQ **Q -Wen Token:**\ A There is no Coordinape Token. In general we find teams that communicate their goals for using Coordinape to their contributors will have a better experience than teams that start circles without communicating to their users what \*\*Team Size \*\* Team sizes can range from 2-200+ but we find it's easier to allocate to smaller teams (<20) so the users can have some interaction with most of the members of the team. **Compensation Amounts** The amount of compensation for each epoch can vary, it can be zero, it can be infinity. Before our on chain launch there is no escrow feature so the compensation will be distributed by the admin after the epoch ends. Once on chain, funds for epochs will be escrowed in the Ape Vaults, and automatically made available to claim or distribute at the end of the epoch after the admin approves the distributions. **Use Cases We've seen** * Giving to Contributors * Giving to Projects * Giving to other circles # Permissionless Circles For the last few months we have been diligently working towards full permissionlessnes (It's a word, don't spellcheck it), and on chain implementation. We can't wait to see what your teams will accomplish! # Vouching ### New Feature: The Vouching System The DAO landscape is founded on self management and contribution, and we often hear the question: how should new contributors be inducted into a Gift Circle? While the borders of DAO membership might be as simple as landing in a Discord server or collecting NFTs or tokens, the additional trust layer of joining a circle to GIVE or receive may have different considerations. This may be performed by consensus, self determination, admin decisions or a blend of the three. Coordinape leaves this up to you. Up to now, the Coordinape application has only allowed circle access via admin controls. This will likely always be a useful option, and some circles may choose to maintain this practice alone in an ongoing fashion (which, of course, we will support). However, just as DAOs often form by autonomy and osmosis, we wanted to include more decentralized options by which a circle can grow. Our new Vouching system allows members to onboard new collaborators through a simple and flexible consensus mechanism. With Vouching, circles may determine their porosity via threshold settings, and contributors in a circle can actively engage in the management of its growth. ### Here’s how it works: ## Setting Up Vouching for your Circle Via admin controls, a circle admin can decide to enable or disable vouching. And, admins still have the ability to remove members if mistakes are made. We at Coordinape are particularly excited about how this new module might aid DAOs in bootstrapping their communities and letting contributors participate in the active growth of their working teams. Hence, our bot features have (until now) been centered around that platform. Now, we've begun to port our bot to Discord, and added easy webhook integration functions to the Coordinape admin panel. Chaque membre se voit attribuer un montant fixe de GIVE (100 par défaut) et peut envoyer librement n'importe quelle quantité de ces jetons aux autres membres du Cercle au cours de l'Epoch. Les membres peuvent également se retirer (opt-out) s'ils reçoivent un financement externe, ce qui leur permet de distribuer des GIVE mais de ne pas en recevoir. Les GIVE n'ont aucune valeur s'ils ne sont pas donnés à un autre membre du Cercle . Cela ne sert donc à rien de les garder en espérant les revendre. Ce processus de don définit les récompenses de chaque membre à partir du budget du cercle. Simultanément, nous travaillons sur une version on-chain qui sera implémentée sur une chaîne latérale compatible EVM sur Layer 2 lors du lancement de notre offre bêta. # Gift Circle: Cycle de récompenses La fonctionnalité principale de Coordinape (au cœur de la version Alpha) est le **Gift Circle**. Le Gift Circle permet à un groupe de contributeurs de la DAO de décentraliser le processus de paiement, en identifiant la valeur de chacun afin de créer une répartition des rémunérations. Cela se fait à travers un processus de Don (Gifting). ### Le Gift Circle: Répartition des dons Une organisation peut créer un nombre illimité de Gift Circles, en ajoutant des membres via un processus décentralisé. Pendant une période de temps définie (Epoch), les membres de ce Cercle (Circle) peuvent effectuer des dons (Gifting) de la façon suivante : Au début de l'epoch, chaque membre du cercle reçoit 100 jetons GIVE (non divisibles). Les membres doivent attribuer leurs jetons GIVE à d'autres membres au cours de l'epoch pour les récompenser du travail qu'ils effectuent et de la valeur qu'ils apportent à Yearn. Ils peuvent ajouter des notes à leurs allocations s'ils le souhaitent pour remercier un autre membre. À la fin de l'epoch, tous les jetons GIVE alloués sont verrouillés (désormais appelés jeton GET), et tous les tokens GIVE non alloués sont brûlés. * Ajustez ces dons au cours de l'epoch. * Consultez le solde de GIVE qu'il vous reste. * Consultez le solde de GIVE que vous avez reçu jusqu'à présent.
* Laissez des notes aux contributeurs pour les remercier. Le but du Gift Circle est de récompenser toutes les formes de plus-values apportées à votre DAO. Au cours de l'epoch, chaque membre doit allouer ses jetons GIVE à d'autres membres en utilisant la logique qui lui convient, dans le but de s'assurer que les contributions précieuses sont reconnues et compensées aussi précisément et honnêtement que possible. L'objectif n'est pas de partager le budget de manière égale, de donner par obligation ou de payer des personnes qui passent seulement du temps au sein de l'organisation (à moins que vous ne pensiez que ce ne soit utile). L'objectif est de récompenser les contributions précieuses et pertinentes. Si quelqu'un n'obtient aucun jeton GIVE, ce n'est pas grave. Peut-être était-il occupé ce mois-là ? Ou peut-être qu'il n'apporte aucune valeur. Il n'y a rien de mal à cela. Utilisez votre propre jugement lors de l'attribution de GIVE. En général, donnez-les lorsque vous avez une interaction directe avec la personne et que cette dernière crée de la valeur. Si vous travaillez avec quelqu'un sur un projet ambitieux et que vous pensez qu'il a fait du bon travail, donnez lui quelques GIVE. Essayez de ne pas attribuer des GIVE en fonction de qui est « censé » les obtenir, ou en fonction du "battage médiatique", la répartition ne doit pas être un concours de popularité. Distribuez-les en fonction de la valeur ajoutée apportée par les autres membres ou donnez-les aux personnes qui vous aident. Les utilisateurs sont ajoutés à un cercle en cliquant sur le bouton **Add Contributor** et les profils des utilisateurs peuvent être modifiés en cliquant sur le crayon à côté de leur nom. **Faites très attention lorsque vous saisissez les informations des utilisateurs, leur adresse de portefeuille doit être une adresse valide et ne comporter aucun espace au début ou à fin, et elle ne peut pas être déjà utilisée dans ce cercle**. # Creating A Circle Setup your Circle in Coordinape ## What's A Circle? A Circle is equal to a team. Teams of people will allow you to compensate members within your organization. ### Circle Size Circles can have 1-200+ members in them. # Add Team Members Load up your circle with the people that matter Once you've started your Circle, two members will be You and Coordinape. ### Coordinape in Your Circle > At Coordinape we believe that we are building something that will help propel our industry forward in the way we think about compensation. > > In an effort to ensure as many DAOs as possible have access to Coordinape we have decided to forgo charging a fee to use Coordinape. > > We've opted instead to rely on the gifts of the DAO's we provide value to. > > The address associated with the Coordinape user is our donation address we can accept donations on EVM compatible chains. ### How to Add Your Team to Coordinape {% tabs %} {% tab title="Manually" %}

Epochs allow you to choose a date range you would like your team to allocate during. You can edit Epochs before and after the start time. If your Epochs are too long, members may forget about work completed at the beginning of the Epoch. > **Process Fatigue:** Every Epoch requires your team to record contributions and allocate them to team members. If you have a large circle, the frequent allocation could lead to burnout. # Contributions and Epoch Statements How your Circles know what their members did ### Epoch Statements Each Epoch will prompt users to enter their Epoch Statement, which should function as a summary of all the contributions that user made during the active epoch. ### Contributions During the Epoch your Circle Members will be able to add individual contributions that will reflect the various tasks they accomplished.
(These contributions can also be populated via our [Integrations](/info/integrations) with web 3 work tracking tools like [Dework](/info/integrations/dework) and [Wonderverse](/info/integrations/wonderverse).) {% tabs %} {% tab title="Epoch Statement" %} During an active Epoch you can set your Epoch Statement. Your statement is public for anyone in the Circle and will show up on your card during the allocation phase for other users to view. The Epoch Statement details the work you have done this month or clarifies work that the DAO wants to compensate.
\ **Best Practices**\ It's best to summarize your work so that anyone from your team can understand what you did and its impact/goal. **Best Practice:** Enter a new contribution for the tasks that you complete, to add color to your epoch statement. You can browse member Epoch Statements, and Contributions to help determine how much Give to allocate across your team.
### Appreciate Your Team Allocate GIVE and type notes to send to contributors. * Coordinape will reflect these allocations and notes in real-time. * The recipients are the only ones who can see the allocated amounts and notes. * You can adjust these gifts throughout the epoch. It is advised not to allocate GIVEs based on appearance or equality. Instead, GIVE should be allocated according to the amount of value created by members. ### You can also see GIVE amount to allocate in the top left and GIVE received on the left hand side bar.
# Review Distributions After allocation, at the end of the Epoch, Review your team's allocations Before distributing the funds to their contributors, the Admin's responsibility is to ensure that the allocations look appropriate. To do that go to the Epoch in question (Epoch 21 in this example) and click Review and Export
Review the allocations to make sure it looks like you would expect and then you can export the CSV

Members tend to be the MOST familiar with the teammates' work they interact with the most often. > **Various Areas of Expertise:** Members do not always have experience with the effort required of all disciplines within the organization. For example, A developer may not know the rigor required of a marketer managing an active campaign. Due to this lack of experience, they may tend to under allocate to members of the marketing team. ### Use Cases: Setting up your Structure {% tabs %} {% tab title="Core + Community" %} If you have community members that casually contribute to the DAO and a Core team you would like to incentivize, you could set it up like this. **Acme DAO \[Organization]** * Community Members \[Circle] * Acme Core \[Circle] The community Circle can input contributions and then GIVE each other kudos and tokens. Then, after the Epoch, you can compensate the community for their work. Therefore, throughout the Epoch, each member should allocate their GIVE tokens to other members using whatever logic makes sense to them. But, in general, we find that teams that **communicate** their goals for Coordinape to their contributors will have a better experience than teams that start Circles without communicating with their users. This will be displayed on your card when others are allocating to you.

If that's' the case you can opt out by clicking no under receive Give, you'll still be in the Circle and able to allocate but others will not be able to Give to you.
{% endtab %} {% endtabs %} # Select Your Collaborators(Optional) Who did you work with or who did you see adding value this Epoch Circles sizes can range from 2-200+, but it's easier to allocate to smaller Circles(<20), so the users can interact with most of their Circle members. Smaller Circles also make giving/receiving tokens more fluid and more straightforward. Circle selection influences the governance of allocations. For instance, if a group selects 80 members to allocate GIVE to, but each member is only working with 3-4 members, the circle may inadvertently become a "popularity contest" rather than allocation GIVE where value is being created. You can help keep allocations happening where value is created by having your Circle select their Collaborators. ## Picking Collaborators If your Circle has the **Select Teammates** option enabled, when you go to the Give tab you will see a Collaborators toggle at the top.

# Get Paid You did the work time to reap the rewards! ### Every[ Circle](/get-started/circles) may perform the distributions differently. Some Circles may distribute on the mainnet, use L2s on a non-ETH L1, and use Coordinape ahead of a token and will just be tracking the allocations until there is a token to distribute. You set your organization during the Circle creation phase.

Teams of people will allow you to compensate members within your organization. ### Circle Size We recommend Circles of at least **three members.** The closer the team members are, the more accurate the compensation process is. **For larger organizations, we recommend creating more smaller circles.** #### Things to consider: > **Work Opaqueness:** The more members in a Circle, the less accurate your team member's assessment of each other will be. Members tend to be the MOST familiar with the teammates' work they interact with the most often. > **Various Areas of Expertise:** Members do not always have experience with the effort required of all disciplines within the organization. For example, A developer may not know the rigor required of a marketer managing an active campaign. Then, after the Epoch, you can compensate the community for their work. In our view, This is good for cultivating a DAO-wide culture of gratitude, but we would not advise allocating substantial compensation to these circles. As Circles get larger, it can be difficult for DAO-mates to understand the type of work done across the entire DAO. Clicking on the **Start a Circle** button will take you to the screen where you can create your Circle.
You can also create a new Circle in your current Org from the admin panel by clicking the Add Circle button
### Circle Information Complete the form below to set up your organization. The Circle Admin can change these fields once the Circle is created, but only by the Circle admin.

# Team Members Getting your team onboarded to your Coordinape Circle No Circle is complete without contributors. We've found the ideal number of contributors in a circle depends on the Contributors in the circle, and the type of contributions being made. As a rule of thumb though we recommend Circles between 5-20 users. After the Epoch ends, the allocations are locked and converted to GET tokens. # Create An Epoch Get the team started in Coordinape ### Circle Admins A [Circle Admin](/get-started/admin) needs to start an [Epoch](/get-started/epochs) to get your projects started. Epochs allow admins to frame a date range you would like your team to work within. Like traditional pay periods, members complete work within the Epoch time frame, submit contributions, then get paid after the Epoch ends. Best practice is for the [Circle Admin](/get-started/admin) to add all team members to the Circle before starting the Epoch. For tips on how to add members see [Add Team Members](/get-started/get-started/new-coordinape-admins/add-team-members) **Starting an Epoch:** {% tabs %} {% tab title="Repeating Epoch" %} Details of a a repeating Epoch #### Cycles * Full Month * Epochs will start on day 1 of the month and end at the end of the month, you only need to choose the month it starts.
* Custom * You can determine the frequency and length of each epoch * You will need to choose: * Start Date * Length (Number of days, weeks, months the Epoch will be active) * Frequency (How many days/weeks/months between Epochs)
{% endtab %} {% tab title="Non-Repeating Epoch" %} #### Non-Repeating Epochs To Schedule a non-repeating Epoch you only need to enter the start date, end date, and the start time.
{% hint style="info" %} Epochs cannot overlap so you will need to schedule an Epoch during a time when no recurring Epochs are scheduled {% endhint %} {% endtab %} {% endtabs %} ### Admin Settings Once you save the Epoch, you will see the upcoming Epoch in the Admin panel. You can edit Epochs before and after the start time. If your Epochs are too long, members may forget about work completed at the beginning of the Epoch. > **Process Fatigue:** Every Epoch requires your team to record contributions and allocate them to team members. Allocation of capital throughout various Epochs will be determined by the amount of GIVE a member receives.\ *Currently, GIVE is a token that lives only on our server. Therefore, a GIVE token will not be sent to your wallet.* At the start of the Epoch, each Circle member receives a certain number of GIVE tokens (Determined by the Circle Admin). Therefore, throughout the Epoch, each member should allocate their GIVE tokens to other members using whatever logic makes sense to them intending to make sure valuable contributions are recognized and compensated as accurately as possible. **Before starting an Epoch, you must guide your team on how best to allocate with the organization’s priorities in mind.** ### **GIVE Considerations** {% tabs %} {% tab title="Impact" %} **Impact:** You can allocate to team members who deliver work that positively impacts the betterment of the organization {% endtab %} {% tab title="Cooperation" %} **Cooperation:** How often does this member show up? Members can allocate to others who show up often and provide valuable feedback. {% endtab %} {% tab title="Effort" %} **Effort:** You may consider rewarding members who have taken many steps to complete a task or worked through unique challenges. {% endtab %} {% tab title="Passion" %} **Passion:** Is this member aligned with the mission of the organization? Some things to be on the lookout for are: * Were any critical contributors missed in the allocations? * Did any contributors receive an allocation that seems out of line? Here's how: First, members allocate "[GIVE](/get-started/give)" tokens to each other during an [Epoch](/get-started/epochs). These tokens represent a portion of the budget set for the team. Then, after allocation, the Circle Admin exports a CSV and uses their preferred payment method to pay Circle members. Since this is a CSV, you can use this file to pay your team however you'd like and on any chain you'd like; know that the addresses your contributors used to sign in are the ETH mainnet addresses. ### Payment Disbursement If you're paying your team on Ethereum, you can use any options below, pay them in individual transactions or a custom script.
Disperse In the [Disperse ](https://github.com/coordinape/docs/blob/master/get-started/compensation/paying-your-team/broken-reference/README.md)app after you have your csv you can distribute the tokens you wish to allocate by pasting the token address into the token address section Then you'll need to take the address and the amount and paste it into the box below. When you're done, make sure it looks ok and then, click approve and then disperse token

Parcel With this integration, Parcel operators can now view the details of each Circle, the status of Epochs with the corresponding list of participants & allocated GIVE scores directly on Parcel. The budget determined by the operator is automatically distributed as per GIVE scores in a simple flow through Parcel saving them from costly errors & hours of admin work. Coordinape integration can be found under the integrations tab on the navbar from the [Parcel site](https://app.parcel.money) **Prerequisite :** Wallet address signed into Parcel should be an admin of the Coordinape Circle. If you don’t have a Coordinape Circle already, log in to Coordinape and [create a circle here](https://app.coordinape.com/new-circle). Steps to follow : **1. Click on the **Create Transaction** button to complete the process. # Admin As a Circle Admin, you will be able to edit Circle Settings, Edit Epoch settings, edit your users, and create new circles. ## **Permissions** **As an admin, you can control the following:** * Circle Creation * Circle Settings * Epoch Settings * Manage Members * Vouching Requirements * Export Allocation Data ## Best Practices The best practices for running Coordinape will vary from team to team. But, in general, we find that teams that **communicate** their goals for Coordinape to their contributors will have a better experience than teams that start Circles without communicating with their users. It can be zero; it can be infinity. Prior to our on-chain launch, there is no escrow feature, so the admin will distribute the compensation after the Epoch ends. # Update Epoch Settings What you need to know when setting epochs for your circles ### Admin Settings Once you save the [Epoch](/get-started/epochs), you will see the upcoming Epoch in the [Admin](/get-started/admin) panel. You can edit Epochs before and after the start time. However, You cannot edit Epochs after they have ended.
**Editing an Epoch:** 1. Find A Current or Upcoming Epoch on the Admin Page 2. Set Start Date. Change the date you want the Epoch to start. 3. Choose Epoch Length. Vouching can be as little as one vouch needed (any contributor can add other contributors), or an admin can require every member of the Circle must vote to add a new member. Still, the shortfalls of these broad consensus-finding mechanisms have become very apparent as we’ve put them to the test across hundreds of communities over the past year. DAOs typically manage growing protocol’s many operational decisions such as hiring and compensation. Unfortunately, the average coin-holder often lacks the time or expertise to add helpful input to a system and is often either abstaining or rubber stamping initiatives based on their trust in the core team. {% embed url="" %} Our founders on Coordinape {% endembed %} DAOs solve one-half of the problems decentralized networks require, defining governance. Coordinape is a DO (decentralized operations) platform that aims to solve the other half: a structure to make operational decisions within a team of contributors. If a DAO is the decentralized version of a board of directors plus shareholders, a DO is the decentralized version of the executive team plus contributors themselves. ## Roll-out We are testing Coordinape in phases to understand the social dynamics. For the first phase of its development, Our Team Coordinape is building to tackle a key pain point for Yearn: community grants. We have tested our proof of concept compensation mechanic, the “gifting circle,” over several trial periods at Yearn, including dedicated circles for specific groups and processes. Simultaneously, we are working on an on-chain version to be implemented on a layer 2 EVM compatible side-chain as we launch our on-chain ETH L1 offering. # Gift Circle Coordinape’s core feature (central to the Alpha version) is the Gift Circle. The Gift Circle allows a group of DAO contributors to decentralize the payment process, identifying each other's value to the organization to create a compensation map. Compensation is done through a process of Gifting. ## The Gift Circle An organization can stand up to any number of Gift Circles, adding members through a decentralized process. Then, during a set period (the Epoch), the group can perform the Gifting process as follows: * At the start of the Epoch, each member of the Circle receives several non-divisible GIVE tokens (Determined by the Circle Admin) * Members allocate their GIVE tokens to other members throughout the Epoch to reward them for the value they bring to the Circle. * Members can adjust their allocations up until the end of the Epoch. * They can add notes to their allocations if they wish * At the end of the Epoch, all allocated GIVE tokens become locked (now called GET tokens), and all unallocated GIVE tokens are burned. * Budget distribution is then formulated according to the percentage of total GET tokens that each member of the circles has received. ## Example * Joe receives 75 GETs over the Epoch from his colleagues, * Total GETs allocated during the Epoch are 1500, * The total Contributor Budget is 50,000 USDC * Circle Admin sends Joe 2,500 USDC (0.05 of the Budget). # Who To Gift The purpose of the gift circle is to reward all the ways value is brought to your DAO Throughout the epoch, each member should allocate their GIVE tokens to other members using whatever logic makes sense to them intending to make sure valuable contributions are recognized and compensated as accurately as possible. The goal is not to share the money equally, give from obligation, or pay people for spending time within the organization (unless you think that is valuable). The goal is to reward valuable contributions. If someone doesn’t get any GIVE tokens, that’s OK. Maybe they were busy that month? Or maybe they aren’t bringing value. There is nothing wrong with that. Use your judgment in allocating GIVEs. In general, give them when you have first-hand experience of people creating value. For example, if you are working with someone on a yearn project and you think they did a good job, allocate some GIVEs. Try not to allocate GIVEs based on who is “supposed” to get them or based on hype. Instead, give them where you see value happen. Give them to people that help you. Don’t worry about getting the numbers right. Go with your heart. # Vouching System The Vouching System The DAO landscape prides itself on self-management and contribution, and we often hear the question: how should new contributors be inducted into a Gift Circle? While the borders of DAO membership might be as simple as landing in a Discord server or collecting NFTs or tokens, the additional trust layer of joining a circle to GIVE or receive may have different considerations. For example, vouching may happen by consensus, self-determination, admin decisions, or a blend of the three. Coordinape leaves this up to you. Up to now, the Coordinape application has only allowed circle access via admin controls. However, this will likely always be a practical option, and some circles may choose to maintain this practice alone in an ongoing fashion (which, of course, we will support). However, just as DAOs often form by autonomy and osmosis, we wanted to include more decentralized options by which a circle can grow. Our Vouching system allows members to onboard new collaborators through a simple and flexible consensus mechanism. When a distribution occurs, tokens are transferred from a vault to the distributor. A Yearn Vault for a token converts deposits into the corresponding yield-bearing Yearn wrapper token, e.g. `yvDAI` for `DAI`, and stores that in the vault. Yearn Vaults, therefore, support only tokens for which Yearn wrapper tokens are available. Basic Vaults can store any ERC-20 token. ### Security and Upgradability Any address can deposit funds into a vault, but only the vault's owner can withdraw any funds. The **registry** determines which factory, distributor, and router are in use. These can be changed by the registry owner, which is currently the Coordinape [multisig](https://etherscan.io/address/0x15b513f658f7390d8720dce321f50974b28672ef). These changes are time-locked, so vault users have time to withdraw their tokens if the registry is somehow compromised. The registry also references a fee registry component, as seen in the diagram above, which can be used to charge fees on distributions from vaults. There are no plans to charge any fees. The vaults use the [Beacon Proxy](https://docs.openzeppelin.com/contracts/3.x/api/proxy#BeaconProxy) pattern for upgradability so that all existing vaults can be upgraded with a single transaction to add functionality or fix a bug. This is also executable only by the beacon owner (the Coordinape multisig) and time-locked. A vault owner can "opt-out" of upgrades by calling `setBeaconDeploymentPrefs`. See below for links to our security audits. ### Contract Addresses The addresses currently in use on [app.coordinape.com](https://app.coordinape.com) are stored in [deploymentInfo.json](https://github.com/coordinape/coordinape/blob/main/hardhat/deploymentInfo.json). The top-level sections in that JSON file are keyed by chain ID, i.e. `1` is mainnet and `5` is Görli. (This use case is unlikely to be supported on the front-end for the sake of UX simplicity.) ### Audits Coordinape's vault contracts underwent two thorough security audits. ## Taking full ownership of your wallet * MagicLink provides a wallet, and an option to export your private key so you can decide to manage it on your own. * This feature requires some provisioning from Coordinape, which we will be adding in coming months. ## Best practices for Wallets {% hint style="warning" %} Never under any circumstances share your private key with someone. If they have this key they can take everything in your wallet. \ There are no refunds in web3 {% endhint %} The current web3/crypto landscape looks different than the web that you may be used to. There are a number of reasons for this. One of those reasons is users own their assets, not a bank, or Google, or Amazon, or Microsoft. This means that users need to take an abundance of caution when interacting with apps. Anything that you'll want to do in web3 will involve you connecting to an app and giving it permission to connect to your wallet before doing a transaction. This will require you to "sign" things with your wallet. \`To do those transactions you'll typically need to do 3 signatures: (Pop ups that will prompt you to approve something) 1. Sign to allow the app to connect to your wallet ⛽🚫 2. Sign to approve the app to spend your assets ⛽ 3. Sign to approve that app to complete the transaction. ⛽ `⛽ = Transaction requires gas` `⛽🚫 = Signature only` {% hint style="info" %} Some wallets will give you an option to set the "gas" fee and the "tip" for each transaction. You should only change these if you have an idea of what your doing, but in general a lower gas fee means you will wait longer to have the transaction confirmed, and a higher one means it will go through faster. {% endhint %} If you want to see a transactions progress before it's finalized every transaction creates a "Hash" that can be looked up on [Etherscan](https://etherscan.io). (Or it's equivalent if your on another chain) Etherscan can tell you all about your transaction, but you'll need to have a pretty good understanding of the code to make much sense of it It's important not to blindly sign any popup that comes up on your web3 journey. Only sign transactions from sites that you trust. [0xFrame ](https://frame.sh)does an excellent job of letting you read what you're signing. You are the master of your own fate in web3. In the new internet, people already share value and support each other in spaces that are collectively incentivized. These spaces can be large, like a DAO, or they can be as small as a hi-five between two people. Maintaining a relationship with someone on the internet is fun and open ended, but can also be thought of as a latent exchange of trust and reputation. As participants in co-creation, we support each other, inform each other, propose ideas and even start collaborations. Legacy social media can enable this process (sort of) but it skims off the top by leveraging your information to enable advertisement, and thus bends the natural way you’d like to engage toward the whims of powerful actors. In CoLinks, the protocol manages rewards intrinsically and without the need of monolithic, paid sponsors. We think this is a better model to incentivize and maintain a web of connections, without the pressure of platform capture. And, that lets us build it to really suit what you want to do, and who you want to see.\ \ So, lets take a look around... # Home, Posts and Replies The Home page is where you will probably spend most of your time, communicating with people you are Linked to. Here you will find a shared activity feed, containing Posts and Replies by your CoLinks tribe. **Posts & Prompts** * With Posts, you can post your thoughts. We offer a series of Prompts to get the creative juices flowing. You can choose to address them, refresh them, or you can ignore them and post whatever you want. * When you make a Post, you can include markdown to format text, link to images or articles, etc. **Post Visibility** * When you buy a Link, your posts will be pushed to that user’s home page, so they can read what you are up to. And, you can read their posts as well, which will appear on your feed and in their profile. * When someone buys *your* Link, its the same deal. They will see your posts, and you will see theirs. * You can always mute someone if you wish, by visiting their profile to mute them. They will know they have been muted, and might choose to sell your Link if they were hoping for more -- it is what it is. **Replies and Reactions** * Each post can maintain a single thread of replies, written by anyone that is connected to you by a Link. * Replies are ordered by date posted, and you will see Replies even if you are not Linked to the replier. * Posts can also get emoji reactions. We’ve selected all of the best emojis for CoLinks. # Explore and Search CoLinks takes exploration seriously. Discovery is the root of finding people you want to connect with, and we offer many ways to discover new Links that may be meaningful for your journey. Our exploration features are aided by LLM AI Vector Indexing, which allows connections to be sought with more meaningful results. Here’s what we offer: ### Sortable Leaderboards * Browse leaders in links held, links holding and Rep Score. More leaderboards are coming soon. ### Interest Tags * You can find people based on interests they have tagged themselves with. Tag your interests in your Account Settings area. You get to tag 8 interests at this time. ### Similarity Scoring * Our AI vector indexing allows us to use an LLM to identify accounts that have overlap with yours, and you will find these lists in various pages in CoLinks. ### Command-K / Omni-search * With a single search, find any key word, Link account, interest tag and even relevant posts within your Linked feed. Press Command-K to pop it up any time. # Buying and Selling Links Buying and Selling links is done by interacting with the CoLinks smart contract, deployed on OP Mainnet. Buys and Sells are priced on a bonding curve. As more Links are bought, the price will become higher. As they are sold, the price will become lower. Funds from purchased Links are escrowed in the CoLinks smart contract when bought (according to the Buy price), and these funds are redeemed from the contract on selling (according to the Sell price). Each buy and sell also includes fees to CoLinks and the Link issuer. See [CoLinks Smart Contract ](/colinks/colinks-smart-contract)for more details. ### **To Buy a Link:** * Make sure you have some OP Ethereum in your wallet, enough for payment and gas. * Browse to the Link you want to own, and buy it via the user’s Profile Page or in the Explore page directly. * Confirm the transaction in your browser or phone based wallet, or with MagicLink custodial wallet if you have used that method to authenticate. ### **To Sell a Link** * Be sure you have some OP Ethereum in your wallet, for gas. * Browse to the link you want to sell, and sell it via the user’s Profile Page. * Confirm the transaction in your wallet, or with MagicLink custodial wallet if you have used that method to authenticate. * Please note, you will not see the OP Eth you will receive in the wallet transaction, which only posts the cost of the TX. You can confirm this on Etherscan after the TX has completed. # CoLinks Smart Contract The CoLinks social-fi smart contract is a fork of Friend.Tech’s landmark design. However, we do a few things differently. Please refer to our Terms of Service to understand viable use of the CoLinks smart contract. ### **CoLinks is deployed on Optimism Mainnet** * Contract Address is[ here](https://optimistic.etherscan.io/address/0x7154cA7E4C756E06151aefA2D765404950FA0EE1). ### **Softer bonding curve** * We have optimized our bonding curve for people to accumulate larger collections of Links, by making the curve less steep than Friend.Tech. * This allows more Link connections to be made before prices become prohibitive. ### Familiar Fees * Like Friend Tech, the Link subject and Coordinape Foundation will each take 5% of the buy or sell price as an added fee with each transaction. ### Additional Base Fee Split * To compensate for the softer curve, Coordinape and the Link offerer will split a small flat fee on each buy and sell. This fee is currently set to .000042 ETH * This fee is applied in full on all Buys, but ramps up on Sells to allow for sellers to recapture value on sells below the Base Fee itself. ### Contract Management * Just like the Friend Tech contract, OP ETH that is placed in escrow in the contract is not accessible to anyone other than Link holders. Even the contract owner multisig cannot remove it. * Contract owner (multisig) can change fee values and protocol fee destination. * There are reasonable maximums set on the fees in the contract, to prevent fees that are too high. # Rep and CoSouls In CoLinks, we know that reputation is important. Verifiable humanity and reputation metrics can help you to take the plunge on getting to know someone new through Links. That's why we've developed Rep, a rich score that takes markers of personhood and value into account to help you get to know each other.\ \ We think that reputation is a mix of where you have been, such as elements of your web2 social profile and on-chain history, and what you are doing now, like interactions in CoLinks and other Coordinape ecosystem tools. We make no claims that Rep is perfect, or anywhere close to final (we’re going to continue adding elements and tweaking the underling algorithm), but we think its already nice short-hand way to know who you’d encountering in CoLinks, and a great starting point to learn more. ### **Rep Scoring** **Public Give Score (pGIVE)** * The first element that goes into the Rep score is public GIVE or pGIVE, which is derived from three places: * Algorithmically normalized historical GIVE received in Gift Circles. * GIVE received in CoLinks. * GIVE received in Farcaster. **CoLinks Score** * Rep considers your engagements in CoLinks. This includes how many people hold your Link, Links you hold, posts and replies in CoLinks and invitations, where we include the rep of your invited frens as well. **Web2 Score** * When you connect Twitter and GitHub, as well as verify your email, Rep is able to score elements of your web2 socials. * We consider your legacy accounts to be helpful in confirming your humanity, painting a picture of who you are, and presenting some basic data on how connected you are outside of CoLinks. **Web 3 Score** * Your wallet can say a lot about you. Our MVP Rep score looks for POAPS, which may represent events you’ve been to or other badges and accomplishments. Soon, we will be able to look at much more. **Coordinape Ecosystem Score** * The Coordianpe Gift Circle has seen many millions of GIVE sent, as individual collaborators signal thanks for each other’s effort in some of the most impressive DAOs out there. We score this using a normalized Public GIVE score, which can become an element of your Rep if you are a Gift Circle user. ### **CoSoul, your on-chain Rep SBT** Rep is useful in CoLinks, to get a sense of someone's value to their frens, their provable humanity and their activity in the CoLinks network. And, we think this is going to be increasingly useful to the outside world. We will publish your Rep and pGIVE to your CoSoul monthly, using automated synching, to get that Rep on-chains and allow you to really put it to work out there in the wider world of web3. # GIVE ## What is GIVE? * A simple and powerful way to recognize people and impact, inside and outside of the Coordinape platform. * All ways and forms of giving GIVE are stored onchain as markers in time that someone was recognized for something great. ## **Giving GIVE in Farcaster and Warpcast** You can give in Warpcast by mentioning the `@givebot` , and it will deliver the GIVE to the recipient for you.
### **As a Reply Cast:** `@givebot` as a reply cast to another cast, and Givebot will deliver a GIVE to the original caster from you.
### **As a new Cast:** Givebot responds to format `@givebot @user #skilltag` When giving from a new cast, you need to @mention another user as the recipient. The `#skilltag` is an optional way to add more context to the GIVE so others know more about why you want to recognize someone, adding to their onchain reputation history.
You should see the Givebot respond with a message that the GIVE was delivered and a Frame that welcomes you into the GIVE app.
